Yuja Black Reserve
"Yuja and mandarin oranges are grown in several coastal towns in Jeolla and Gyeongsang Provinces..." – 『Sejong Sillok(1426)』, Volume 31.
ROHAE's Yuja tea is a unique infused tea blend made by fermenting tea leaves in yuja citron shells grown under the coastal winds of Namhae. It is carefully steamed and dried multiple times to enhance its complex and fragrant flavors.
"Jori is made by weaving bamboo into the shape of a ladle."
- Seo Yugu(1764-1845), 『Imwon Gyeongjeji』 , 19th century.
In Joseon(1392-1910) period texts, the term jori(笊籬) refers to a traditional kitchen tool used to sift out impurities like sand mixed with rice grains. On the eve of the lunar New Year, this sifting tool, which is crafted on the last day of the previous year, was symbolically referred to as bokjori—a representation of the wish to “embrace what is beneficial for the New Year and filter out what is harmful.” The bokjori was often displayed in a prominent place at the entrance of the home as a symbolic decoration for good fortune.
To continue this tradition of wishing New Year’s luck, ROHAE has collaborated with a master bokjori artisan who has been bamboo-weaving for over 60 years, and the straw-weaving artist, Debaroun to produce these special bokjori editions.
We wish that your home be filled with abundant blessings in the New Year.
